Chasing the Fairies

Week one of our first summer holiday with all the children together has been filled up with adventures local to the South Lakes – walks in the woods at Fairy Steps (and seeing Grandad), swimming lessons every day, trips to the cinema and playing with the new puppy Roki.

Dakota has, thus far, enjoyed herself immensely with no trace of homesickness whatsoever.  It has been great!

Tomorrow is the last of the lessons before we begin our next adventure with a road trip to the Isle of Mull for Week Two of our holiday!

I suspect this will be the bigger of the adventures!

We Are Family

Hi!

This is us – Jennifer, Dakota, Lachlan, Hamish and me… Rob.  Clan Sutherland, the wanderers!

Hopefully this blog will track our excursions and adventures as they come along.  I may talk about other stuff too – technology, product reviews, outdoor equipment… probably even a bit of politics.  Who knows!

A little about us – I am an engineer by day, photographer by a bit more day and wannabe rockstar by night.  I used to be an archaeologist, once, so we may get a little bit into history and such like too!  Jen works with me as well as a number of other organisations, as well as being a frustrated artisit, so we are both pretty productive and busy people.  The children are all at school (Lachlan and Hamish live with us whilst Dakota lives with her Mum – it’s a long story with plenty of twists and turns both of the emotional and legal type… but we have finally got the kind of time with her that will, hopefully, make a difference to her life) and the dog is new… and still finding his place in our little tribe!

So – onto adventures and shenanigans!  Glad to have you along!
